According to the widow, she first encountered Dmitry Matveev 24 years ago in the Lobny hospital. At the age of 12 they were in adjacent rooms. According to Ekaterina Egovtseva, she would not even remember him if he himself had not burst into her life years later. 
The woman got married for the first time and gave birth to a daughter. The couple separated, Ekaterina married Anton Egovtsev, and gave birth to his son. Family life, work – everything went as usual and there were no signs of trouble. Until March 8, 2023.
On International Women’s Day, Dmitry Matveev appeared on the doorstep of Ekaterina’s mother (the woman also lives in Lobnya) and told her that he studied with her daughter. The guest did not find his sweetheart and took his leave, leaving his number with a request to contact him.
Some time later, Catherine called the schemer and made an appointment with him at the store where she worked as a salesperson. At the appointed time, a complete stranger arrived to her, who said that he fell in love with her the moment he saw the girl in the ward. He followed her life, when she gave birth in her first marriage, Dmitry Matveev dropped out of school and got a job at Rospotrebnadzor in Sheremetyevo. The salary was small and he began to do what he liked – motorcycles. Because of his feelings for Catherine, he had neither a relationship nor children.
Catherine refused the suitor, but he began to pursue her, persistently called her and all her relatives, and also kept watch under the entrance. Police reports were filed against him several times, but no action was taken against him. Dmitry Matveev had already attacked Anton Egovtsev, but the latter broke his jaw. The pursuer himself first wrote a statement against his sweetheart’s husband, but then took it away. As Ekaterina Egovtseva explained, she asked him not to ruin her husband’s life, they say, he asked for it. However, Dmitry did not even think about retreating; one day, once again tracking down Catherine, he told her mother that she would only know one thing – him.
Around April of this year, Dmitry Matveev made a real raid on Ekaterina Egovtseva. He burst into the store where she worked, found her in the back room, pushed her away and grabbed her apartment keys and phone from her bag. She called the police, asking a squad to come to the address where Anton Egovtsev and his son were, but no one came there.
The next attacks, which became fatal, began the day before: Dmitry Matveev again arrived at the Egovtsevs’ address and told the concierge that he had a package for Catherine. He didn’t give anything away and went into the car. Yesterday, already in the evening, he began to try to reach the Egovtsevs, but no one opened up to him. Anton was not feeling well, and Ekaterina came to his aid. She went into the apartment unnoticed – the pursuer was sitting in the car and was busy on the phone. She stayed with her husband and also secretly went to her mother. Matveev’s attacks resumed and Ekaterina herself first called him. He missed the call several times and didn’t call back. Then the woman called the police, where after the call officers came to her. The law enforcement officers questioned her and left, promising to send a squad to Fizkulturnaya Street, where a tragedy occurred a few hours later.
Ekaterina and Anton contacted several times; according to the woman, the police did not respond to her calls either when she was questioned or later. The last thing Egovtsev told her was that he was opening the front door to his neighbor. He was drunk and told him that you were snooping. The social activist did not talk to him and closed himself. The last conversation between the spouses took place around 23.00, after which Anton no longer answered the phone.
At the scene of the incident, police discovered that the Egovtsevs’ door peephole was completely covered, and there were traces of blood in the apartment, including on the switches. Experts believe that Matveev could have lured Anton out by cunning, first entering the vestibule, and when the front door opened, the killer attacked the apartment owner inside the home.
