As the Cheka-OGPU learned, investigators decided to send Valentina Reunova, a 73-year-old pensioner from the Moscow region, who calls herself “chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR,” to a pre-trial detention center. She has been under house arrest since January in a criminal case of “inducing and involving citizens in activities for the violent seizure of power in the Russian Federation” (Part 1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and “public calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism “(Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). However, the Basmanny court refused to place the woman in a pre-trial detention center.

An investigator of the investigative group of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation petitioned the court to tighten the preventive measure against Reunova on the grounds that she “categorically refused to participate in the inpatient psychiatric examination and at the specified time in the Federal State Budgetary Institution “National Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology named after V.P. Serbsky” did not arrive on its own.”

The investigator perceived the pensioner’s refusal to undergo an examination as obstruction of the criminal proceedings “by disrupting investigative and other procedural actions” and suggested that she would “hide from the investigative authorities and the court.” However, the court considered that Reunova did not commit significant violations of the prohibitions established by the court, and her refusal to undergo an examination cannot be regarded as “obstruction of investigative and other procedural actions in a criminal case.”

“Also, according to the decision of the Basmanny District Court, the address dated March 13, 2024, by the court on the basis of Art. 203 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, it was decided to place the accused in the Federal State Budgetary Institution “National Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology named after V.P. Serbsky” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, providing psychiatric care in an inpatient setting, for 30 days for an inpatient forensic psychiatric examination. However, the preliminary investigation body did not provide the court with information about the reasons for the non-execution of the court decision,” the court’s decision to refuse the petition states.

As the Cheka-OGPU reported, criminal proceedings against Reunova were opened back in 2022, after she posted a video on YouTube about the “Putinoid Palaces.” The pensioner is the author of the YouTube channel “PEOPLE’S FRONT OF THE USSR” (878 subscribers). It, in particular, called for the restoration of the USSR and the establishment of Soviet power. The last video in the channel called “No. 13514 IMPORTANT! CONFISCATION OF PALACES AND CASTLES OF THE PUTINIDS” was published two years ago. This is what interested investigators.
