The post of the -OGPU about the underlying reasons for the visit of the Acting Governor of the Kursk Region Alexei Smirnov to the border Sudzhansky district did not go unnoticed at his election headquarters. Smirnov tried to distance himself as much as possible from the shadow elite of the Sudzhansky district through the mouth of his adviser Roman Alekhin, and two weeks later he clearly hinted at personnel changes not in favor of the current head Alexander Bogachev. But behind young Bogachev there are much more experienced politicians: his uncle Nikolai Ilyin, who led the district for 30 years, and Alexander Polin – the “eternal deputy” of the Kursk Regional Duma, the shadow owner and “wallet” of the Sudzhansky district.

The ruling elite clearly thought well of Smirnov’s message, but, understanding the risks of losing resources, they began to “lay out straws” in advance. Whole families of the right people are going to the upcoming elections to the local parliament in Sudzha in September: Nikolai Ilyin and his son, the head of the peasant farm Oleg Ilyin, father and son Nikolai and Taras Gorelovs, who occupy leadership positions in JSC Sudzhanskoe DRSU No. 2 – by the way , belongs to Alexander Polin.

As a “safety net,” 22-year-old unemployed Alexander Zhadanov, the son of the current head of the Porechensky village council of the same Sudzhansky district, Elena Zhadanova, is running. And also from JSC Nadezhda, which belongs to Polin, two people were sent to the elections, including the director, Alexander Nesteruk.

Thus, the Sujan elites plan to form a pocket parliament, which will help them keep the land and financial resources of the region in their hands, unquestioningly approving Ilyin Sr. as the head of the region. The voter will again be left with the boring Bogachev-Ilyin clan, which is already remembered for the global land redistribution and the flourishing of corruption in the region. In addition to the residents’ fatigue from the permissiveness of the local elite, fatigue from shelling and a falling standard of living is gradually being added. All this has already created social tension in the border area, and by September the atmosphere risks heating up even more, adding a fly in the ointment for Alexei Smirnov in his barrel of unconditional honeymoon victory in the elections.

In June, the acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexey Smirnov, visited the Sudzhansky district, but not to assess the consequences of the shelling, but to hand over the keys to the new building to the employees of Nadezhda JSC. A rather far-fetched reason for a visit to a border area under fire…
