Putin: From 2025, the minimum wage in Russia will amount to 48% of the median salary

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his speech at the plenary meeting of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, said that indexation of the minimum wage in the country will be tied to the total growth of salaries in the Russian economy, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports.

According to the head of state, in 2025 the minimum wage will amount to 48% of the median salary, exceeding the mark of 22 thousand rubles a month.

He emphasized that this growth is about 15%.

As Vladimir Putin explained, in the future the ratio of the minimum wage with a median salary will grow in order to reach a level of at least 35 thousand rubles a month by 2030.

In addition, he noted that now this indicator exceeds the established subsistence minimum according to the Constitution.

Last year, the minimum wage amounted to 16,242 rubles, and from January 1 of the current year it was indexed by 18.5 percent, reaching 19,242 rubles.

Recall that in May the president signed a decree on the national purposes of the development of the Russian Federation until 2030 and for the prospect until 2036, which states that the authorities should ensure that the minimum wage is to be doubling in comparison with the indicators of 2023 and reaching a level of at least 35 thousand rubles a month by 2030.
