The Bank of Russia wants to introduce a “cooling period” for suspicious operations with a digital ruble

Note that the digital ruble is the third form of Russian national currency.

Banks participating in the digital ruble will have to temporarily suspend digital rubles for two days if the operations look suspicious and do not have the consent of the client, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports with reference to the official website of the regulator.

They are also required to inform users about this and provide the possibility of confirming or canceling the operation. The Bank of Russia will conduct checks and report on the possibility of re -sending the payment.

If signs of fraud are found, the bank will have to refuse to perform the operation.

Before using the platform, banks will have to give recommendations on safety and risks of transfers without the consent of the client. Expert assessments of the project are accepted until June 28, 2024.

It is assumed that the indication will enter into force 10 days after the official publication, but not earlier on January 1, 2025.
