Refusal by Konchalovsky’s film “Dear Comrades” in nomination for the Academy Award, according to sources, is exclusively associated with the toxicity of the producer Alisher Usmanov, who, if the talented film will be present at the ceremony of presenting a golden figurine, thereby wiping many political noses of external partners. Of course, for Usmanov, this was, firstly, not a creative project, but related to geopolitics and the problem of its positioning in the West. But the most remarkable in this story is not at all the fact of refusing Konchalovsky’s film, but the fact that Usmanov, for the sake of his integration plans in the American direction, went to financial support for the picture about the protest of Russians against the authorities, which looks ambiguous and, by sovereign standards, is not very political correctly. Of course, the plot is based on the events not at all the current winter, when the citizens went out to protest on the wave of history with Navalny, and the distant 1962 in Novocherkassk, where, in response to the economic requirements of residents, the authorities applied excess power. Perhaps, know Usmanov what will happen in Moscow and other cities of the Russian Federation in January-February 2021- and he would be worried from participation in such a film that is now perceived in the aspect of fresh realities and even inseparably from them. However, since art is sometimes ahead of life, it was no longer possible to distance himself from the film, but in the event of the victory of the “dear comrades” at the Oscar for the oligarch, there was a chance in the wake of the triumph to become real, and not a conditional citizen of the world. Alas, the faces of the Oscars turned out to be severe, and therefore, in the end, Usmanov never became his own among strangers, but did not add political points among his own. https://t.me/vchkogpu/16146
