In the revelations of Roman Protasevich, one of the most curious moments is the sudden appearance of a sponsor from Russia, a kind of mysterious oligarch in the ranks of the Nonkhta, who owns an asset with the word “Ural” in the name. It will not be guessing the company of labor – almost 100% we are talking about the Uralhim group (Uralkali), the largest producer of potassium fertilizers. And this company has a rich history of relations with Belarus. As you know, Russian producers of potassium fertilizers historically in counterattacks with Belaruskalia. The company has long been sharpened to the company for two reasons: if Belaruskalia absorbs Uralhim, the company will immediately become one of the world leaders in the industry. And the second – Belarusians periodically dump, knocking down world prices and thereby turning into a bone in the throat of competitors. In addition, the company generates 4 billion currency per year.

The first Alexander Lukashenko was the former owner of Uralkalia Suleiman Kerimov, who tried to “agree” and gain control of the Belarusian asset. However, the case ended with a scandalous story with the arrest of the general director of Uralkali Vladislav Baumgernner. After the failures of numerous attempts to buy Belaruskalia for cheap and turn into a “king of fertilizers”, Kerimov, being a real player by nature, apparently lost interest in the field and sold business.

And the new owner was businessman Dmitry Mazepin. Perhaps Protasevich has in mind him. After all, he is an active participant in the Belarusian agenda: Mazepine periodically scolds Belarusians for dumping, and after the events of August 2020 he called Lukashenko to a dialogue with protesters. Perhaps that Mazepin also came to the potassium business, believing in the old legend: whoever squeezes Belaruskalia from the Old Man will become the king of fertilizers. If all this is so, then Mazepin chose a strategy that is very different from Kerimovskaya – he tried to solve the issue of legal (almost) channels of the interaction of Minsk and Moscow. And here there is a move with a horse: it was decided to go on a frontal attack on Lukashenko and get Belaruskalia literally through his corpse. However, this version has one weak place: how would the Russian oligarch receive Belaruskalia after the accession of Sveta Tikhanovskaya, who promised to bury Russian-Belarusian relations even deeper than Russian-Ukrainian?

And only two options are possible here: there are either agreements with the Polish-Lithuanian capital, also claiming the assets of Belarus, or Protasevich simply mistaken, and Mazepin was not involved in the overthrow of now one of the main allies of Vladimir Putin. However, it is not difficult to verify the information that the novel voiced in an interview – according to him, this mysterious oligarch “in a suit from a needle” appeared in Warsaw and met with the editorial office of Nekhta.
