According to documents filed in the case, US investigators allege that Vekselberg bought Tango in 2011 and has owned the yacht continuously since then.

Vekselberg used shell companies to hide his interest in Tango in order to avoid bank supervision of related US dollar transactions. Additionally, after Vekselberg was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department on April 6, 2018, the warrant alleges that Vekselberg and persons working on his behalf continued to make payments in U.S. dollars through U.S. banks for support and maintenance of Tango and its owners, including payment for a stay in December 2020 at a luxury resort in the Maldives and fees for mooring a yacht.”
