For several years, a lover of luxury style has headed the United Russia branch in the Beloyarsky urban district with a population of 30 thousand people, 50 kilometers from Yekaterinburg. And now he is ready to inflict crushing reputational damage on the party in power and personally on Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev. He has elections for a new term in two months, and Lavrentyev’s hands have created the preconditions for a social explosion in the municipality.
The 43-year-old dollar millionaire pumps up his well-being from the Beloyarsk asbestos cardboard products factory. After privatization, it has been the family business of the father and two Lavrentiev brothers for 20 years. The younger Igor took over a controlling stake 10 years ago and turned the company into an investment bank of his own ambitions.
The Maybach is on the factory’s balance sheet, as are two Bentleys, in which the general director’s wife and daughters travel from Rublyovka to do their business. Lavrentiev’s wife is paid more than 200 thousand for the position of deputy for social issues, and she does not have to travel from Moscow to Beloyarsky even on payday – the money goes to her card account.
Lavrentyev’s twenty million dollar salary exceeds the wage fund of the entire factory staff. On average, workers receive 35 thousand rubles late.
