According to the investigation, a senior inspector, abusing his official powers, in June 2022, during an unscheduled on-site inspection of a hostel located on Alma-Atinskaya Street, having examined non-residential premises in an apartment building with a large number of people staying in it, limited himself to identifying minor violations of fire safety requirements . At the same time, the employee, by reflecting deliberately false information in the documentation, concealed materials about an administrative offense against the organization from being sent to the district court of Moscow in accordance with Part 14 of Art. 19.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation for making a decision on the administrative suspension of the activities of a legal entity.
As a result of these illegal actions, on July 28, 2022, a fire occurred in the hotel premises. Due to the failure to extinguish the fire at the initial stage of its occurrence, the delay in informing rescue services, the inability to use the necessary fire extinguishing equipment, and the unskilled actions of workers who were not trained to function in the conditions of a fire, 8 people died without being able to leave the premises.
As part of a criminal case, searches were carried out at the official’s workplace and official documentation was confiscated.
As part of the preliminary investigation, the objects of the supervisory activities of the specified official will be identified and verified.
Today, the investigation petitions the Presnensky District Court of Moscow to select a preventive measure related to deprivation of liberty against the accused. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
