The situation with the Obedin couple, which law enforcement agencies have been marinating for a year and a half, without finding anything to cling to, only confirms that criminal prosecution in Russia remains one of the most practiced tools for resolving business conflicts.

Apparently, the number of disputes between entrepreneurs, where law enforcement agencies play the role of a cudgel, has become overwhelming, if the president was forced to clearly point this out to the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is significant that the President simply did not speak at the RF Investigative Committee this year. Apparently, the Prosecutor General’s Office has received carte blanche to investigate such episodes, and now the contradictions between the two departments can again noticeably worsen, and globally develop into a conflict.
After the publication of Anastasia Obedina’s open letter, we can expect that her example will be followed by other defendants who were illegally arrested or are being pressed by investigators in the hustle and bustle of corporate wars. Ordinary ICR employees, in pursuit of their profits, sometimes simply do not understand what trump cards they sometimes throw at the opponents of their superiors in intra-elite games, where the stakes are not money at all, but influence and power. All this not only methodically undermines Bastrykin’s authority as a defender of justice, but can also significantly undermine his administrative positions.
