Arrested in Norway $7 million in accounts related to Russian businessman Anatoly Bernstein. This is a former business partner of Dmitry Mikhalchenko.

Norwegian Economic and Environmental Crime Service Økokrim issued a statement to this effect yesterday. The Russian’s name is not mentioned there. As we found out, the decision of the Norwegian court has to do with the money of Anatoly Bernstein, a partner in a law firm and the founder of the Lenrezerv defense museum.

It is important that the investigation into money laundering in Norway has been ongoing since at least 2014 and concerned Bernstein’s relatives who received money from abroad of unexplained origin and then invested it in a Norwegian pension fund.

Bernstein is a well-known personality, a former business partner of Mikhalchenko, who legally supported the work of the Forum Group of Companies, which was at the epicenter of a corruption scandal involving high-ranking officials of the FSO, the Federal Customs Service, the Ministry of Culture and the FSB. Anatoly Bernstein also supported the legal activities of the Turkish freight forwarding company ULS Global, owned by St. Petersburg resident Igor Khavronov and Turkish citizen Dzhabrail Karaarslan. The company was repeatedly searched by the FSB on suspicion of smuggling.

Bernstein is called one of the shadow “fixers” of St. Petersburg and is associated with the former head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region Sergei Umnov, with whom he opened his Lenrezerv museum. Umnov currently holds the position of Assistant Minister of Internal Affairs. The museum itself also opened with the support of the St. Petersburg police. In addition, Bernstein was the founder of the public organization “Motorsport Sports Club “Excort-GUVD”. In the photo: Anatoly Bernstein with Vladimir Putin at the Lenrezerv Museum.
