“I played for many years with the city prosecutor at the Sports Palace, but after he stopped playing, all this began,” Roman Kurbatov told Business Petersburg in 2021, when the bailiffs sealed the building. Then the businessman did not give up hope of defending the sports club in the Supreme Court and the ECHR. Kurbatov signed an investment agreement on its construction with the authorities of St. Petersburg in 2012, and, despite a number of approvals, Gosstroynadzor did not issue a construction permit. However, the sports complex was still built.
Under the leadership of Kurbatov, the Children’s Tennis Center was built in 2006, and he also owned the Trinity Bridge chain of vegetarian cafes (the legal entity was liquidated on May 3, 2024). The media wrote that he was building a production facility near St. Petersburg to produce musical equipment.
