As the Cheka-OGPU previously reported, Filatov’s case concerning the theft of money from the Interkommerts Bank was lost in the archives of the Investigative Committee several years ago, not least thanks to ex-Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu and his former first deputy Ruslan Tsalikov. The last two personally dissuaded Filatov and Ivanov. The resuscitation of the case involving the theft of several billions from Interkommerts, which craftsmen from the Ministry of Defense “accepted” for a controlled company and “dissolved” through their nominees abroad, is nothing more than an “undermining” of Ivanov and Tsalikov.
Filatov’s defense claims that the case file contains no evidence of his involvement in the embezzlement. “In this case, the court refers to the protocols of investigative actions, including protocols of interrogations, confrontations, searches, seizures, inspections, the results of expert research and operational investigative activities, which are not included in the presented materials. On the contrary, in the case materials there is data indicating insufficient information about the involvement of the accused in the charged crime, as evidenced by the return of the case to the investigator by the prosecutor for additional investigation,” says the appeal ruling of the Moscow City Court, which upheld Filatov’s arrest.
