A native of Kazakhstan, 36-year-old Sergei Pestunov worked as an investigator in the FSIN system and supervised a pre-trial detention center in the Novosibirsk region. After numerous scandals involving torture, extortion of appearances and abuse of authority in the region’s correctional institutions, he, who had gotten his hands dirty and had risen to become an employee of the regional department, was “hidden” in Moscow, promoted to senior detective. 
Since his service in the Novosibirsk region, Sergei Pestunov has collaborated with the FSB (many users still have his phone number signed accordingly), which could not but affect his career growth – he also managed to work in the Main Operational Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
Therefore, when Sergei Pestunov “received an order,” he first of all went to his old fellow security officers, who staged a real performance with a staging of the murder of a business partner, Senator Sergei Ionov, who was in a correctional colony in the Kaluga region.
