In the border areas of the Kursk region, where fighting has been going on all week, there are no police, no firefighters, no doctors, no representatives of the administration. According to official information, more than 76 thousand people left the settlements (the majority left on their own, since there was no organized evacuation, contrary to statements by the authorities), but people, mostly elderly, still remain there. The desertion of villages became a catalyst for rampant looting.

“Shops are being robbed, there is a collapse in Korenevo, Magnit was simply demolished. No water, no gas, no electricity. There was no organized evacuation, and if there was one, then why are we in Lobanovka [Кореневского района] Have you heard anything about her?” writes a local resident. The situation is similar in other border municipalities. Kursk residents are confident that administration officials, leaving people to fend for themselves, themselves provoked a collapse in the border areas.

Currently, the administration of the Korenevsky district of the Kursk region cannot be reached by phone. People are forced to organize themselves in order to protect themselves and their property and essentially perform the functions of government and law enforcement agencies.
