As it became known to the Cheka-OGPU, the investigative bodies of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Moscow Region opened a criminal case regarding the supply of low-quality bearings for Il-76 military transport aircraft.
The case was opened under an article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on abuse of power in the execution of state defense orders. Its defendants are unidentified persons from the management of Balashikha Foundry and Mechanical Plant OJSC (BLMZ).
According to the investigation, representatives of the enterprise, in order not to disrupt the defense order, in 2017-2022 purchased bearings from an unknown manufacturer that are part of the wheels for the Il-76. The finished wheels were sent to the branch of PJSC Il – Aviastar. The fabricated accompanying documents indicated that the bearings were purchased from SPZ OJSC and accepted by the military representative office of the Ministry of Defense.
The use of low-quality bearings led to the fact that five Il-76MD-90A aircraft failed and their operation was suspended.
Investigative officers have already seized documents at BLMZ. The managers and founders of the enterprise are being interrogated.
According to the source of the Cheka-OGPU, the real owners and real managers of the BLMZ plant are the brothers Mrtich and Harutyun Okroyan. Previously, the Okroyans were put on the federal wanted list for other cases, but then the actions of the security forces against them abruptly stopped. But the heads of some of their factories are still under a written undertaking not to leave.
