As the -OGPU learned, the Tomsk Garrison Military Court began considering a highly classified and hidden case. The now former head of the assistance program group of the FSB Directorate for the Tomsk Region, and then the head of the department’s counter-terrorism unit, Rustam Kamalov, appeared before the servants of Themis. He is accused under articles of the Criminal Code of the : 286 (exceeding official powers) and 290 (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale).

It turned out that Kamalov was detained in 2023 in the Rostov region when he tried to leave the Russian Federation. He was taken to the Novosibirsk pre-trial detention center, the court chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of detention.

When considering the materials, the court came to the conclusion that his experience in the regional department of the FSB could allow Kamalov to put pressure on witnesses and destroy evidence.
The main witness in the case is under state protection. Kamalov received bribes for general patronage from the former rector of Tomsk Polytechnic University Dmitry Sednev. For this purpose, Kamalova’s acquaintance was hired as the head of the TPU legal department. However, in reality she did not show up at work; the entire salary went to Kamalov.

From November 2021 to January 2023, salaries and bonuses in the amount of more than five million rubles were unreasonably accrued.

Dmitry Sednev himself has also been charged, although so far without the episode about the bribe to Kamalov.
