One of the ongoing and slowly smoldering stories of the Russian insurance market is the bankruptcy and subsequent takeover of FC Otkritie, and with it a series of changes, and even criminal cases around Rosgosstrakh.

It is not even the current suspended position of the high-profile figures Kolesnikov, Shein or Yakimishin that is curious. As it turned out, criminal cases are still pending against colleagues who, by the way, have already changed a number of employers after leaving Rosgosstrakh.

The -OGPU was primarily interested in the legacy of this case, but rather in how, under conditions of colossal pressure from unfriendly states and regulators, its participants continue to try to transfer stolen millions abroad. And not only those stolen earlier, but also those that they are trying to steal even now.

One of the former top leaders of Rosgosstrakh, who managed to undeservedly avoid publicity (although he was previously in favor of glossy publications), is Oleg Vasilievich Tronev. At the time of the collapse of Otkritie, he held the position of General Director of Rogosstrakh Stolitsa, and before swearing allegiance to Khachaturov, he was also the chief treasurer of the “black cash” of LUKOIL, being the head of Capital Insurance, a pocket insurance company for oil workers. Apparently, based on the history of relations with Lukoil, Oleg Vasilyevich became skilled at working with cash, without forgetting in any case about himself.

After a hasty dismissal and the initiation of a criminal case, Tronev leaves the (against the backdrop of ongoing inquiries and the arrest of his closest colleagues), fortunately by this time he becomes a real native Maltese and moves to London.

But apparently in London he is not very successful in doing his usual business again (there are plenty of their own masters in the field of embezzlement) and he decides to return to his usual craft in Russia. Tronev visits quite often and restores his business contacts with colleagues at the former Rosgosstrakh and, naturally, turns to that same alma mater (LUKOIL and the MEDIS company).

It is worthwhile to study more deeply the vicissitudes of this tangle of acquaintances and connections; perhaps it will be possible to understand how in the current insurance world of the Russian Federation (which, by the way, is quite narrow), Tronev and the people behind him, LUKOIL, Rosgosstrakh, as well as his former and current colleagues, are connected.
