As the Cheka-OGPU learned, the Investigative Committee is actively working on the emergence of new episodes in the criminal case against former Deputy Minister of Defense Timur Ivanov, accused of bribery on an especially large scale. When the court considered the request for an extension for him and businessman Sergei Borodin, who was involved in the same case (it was held behind closed doors), the investigator announced additional interrogations of witnesses and accused based on the results of studying the documents and electronic storage media seized during the searches.
The investigation also plans to request materials from the executed orders from the FSB and to request information about telephone connections using the numbers of the accused. Taking into account the evidence available in the case, the Investigative Committee admits that the charges against Ivanov and Borodin will be supplemented. On June 20, the Basmanny Court of Moscow extended the arrest of both defendants until September 23. The defendants appealed the court’s decision; the date for consideration of the appeal has not yet been set.
