According to a source of the Cheka-OGPU, Veshkin is a confidant of the head of the academy, General Kryukov, who previously headed the main military clinical hospital named after. N.N. Burdenko, and came after Kryukov in 2021. Veshkin’s appointment strangely coincided with the allocation of a 3 billion subsidy to the academy, through which the newly built multidisciplinary clinic was to be equipped with new equipment. Veshkin “successfully coped with the task”, which is why he was detained in January of this year by investigators of the GVSU Investigative Committee of Russia for inflating the price of one of the concluded contracts and theft of budget funds in the amount of over 100 million rubles.
After this, interesting details began to appear in the case; it turns out that Veshkin not only inflated prices, but also received kickbacks from suppliers for concluding contracts. Investigators found more than 50 million rubles in cash in his safe deposit box, and shortly before this, Veshkin purchased two apartments in the north of Moscow, worth about 40 million rubles. On Friday, investigators informed the court that a new case had been opened against Veshkin, but this time for receiving a bribe from one of the suppliers of medical equipment. The bribe amount was 35 million rubles, for which Veshkin ensured victory and gave the necessary instructions to his subordinates.
Now investigators have begun to actively check for whom Veshkin kept such a large amount of money in the locker.
