Engine manufacturer JSC UEC, being interested in concealing criminal facts, for 2.5 months blocked the work of not only the State Commission, but also access to data on the incident of the FSB, Investigative Committee, State Enterprise, Foreign Intelligence Service, Ministry of Emergency Situations, and prevented the disclosure of information in the media . The fire and explosion of the first engine was the result of the destruction of a defective engine turbine support. At the time of the accident, the engine’s operating time was about 50 hours after the overhaul carried out by UEC JSC, which means that UEC JSC, anticipating catastrophic consequences, could have deliberately installed a substandard support. It is possible that counterfeit units or parts may be installed on other engines, however, JSC UEC prohibits such checks for fear of detecting counterfeits.
This sabotage is not the first and not the last in the activities of UEC JSC and their patrons. Due to a fire in the TV-117ST engine, an experienced Il-112V military transport aircraft crashed in 2021, killing three test pilots. The material damage caused to the state amounts to tens of billions of rubles, but JSC UEC, which was responsible for the plane crash, did not compensate the state for the damage and blocked the initiation of a criminal case.
In 2021, UEC JSC sold the land and production complex of the engine-building JSC Zavod im. V.V. Chernyshov.” The funds received from the sale are not used to compensate for the costs of building new Il-112Vs or in the form of assistance to victims.
