Vladimir Verteletsky became the fourth high-ranking representative of the Russian Defense Ministry to be detained over the past month. The day before, he was charged with abuse of office with damages amounting to 70 million rubles. A day earlier, the head of the main communications department of the RF Armed Forces, deputy head of the General Staff, was detained and arrested for receiving a large bribe.

At the same time, the investigation does not rule out that new defendants may soon appear in Verteletsky’s criminal case. So there is every reason to believe that the purge of corrupt officials from the Ministry of Defense will not end there. New Minister of Defense Andrey Belousov from the first days of his tenure, he began conducting an audit of all expenditures of the Ministry of Defense in recent years. And there is no doubt that the main results of this test are still to come.
And certainly, based on the results of the audit, many uncomfortable questions will be asked of Shoigu, under whom at least 11 trillion rubles were stolen from the Ministry of Defense. Not to mention the fact that Timur Ivanov, the most thief among the already arrested military officials, is a direct protege of Sergei Kuzhugetovich.
