The plenum of the Supreme Court appointed a new judge, Roman Ryabzin, to the judicial panel for civil cases. Before that, he headed the secretariat of the previous chairman of the Supreme Council, Vyacheslav Lebedev. According to the Cheka-OGPU, quite recently his appointment as the new general director of the Judicial Department at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation was discussed on the agenda, but Ryabzin categorically refused.

Several clan elites of the judicial system are competing for various positions, including the director general of the department.

According to the source, Podnosova’s son, lawyer Egor Podnosov, is actively lobbying his friends, young judges of the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

Inside the Judicial Department there is a shadow figure who is promised a great future. This is the 33-year-old deputy head of the Control and Audit Department of the Supreme Court, Pyotr Bobylev, a relative of Vladimir Kalanda, the vice president of Transneft, who in the past headed the personnel commission for the appointment of judges.

Don’t forget about the Krasnodar clan. Anatoly Bondar and Viktor Momotov are actively lobbying 32-year-old Stanislav Fedorov for the post of head of the Arbitration Court of the Moscow Region. Fedorov also has incredible support from key old-time judicial elites and the support of Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov.

Time and the council of judges, which will take place very soon, will tell how exactly the new positions will be distributed. The plenary meeting of the Council of Judges of the Russian Federation will take place on May 21 – 23, 2024.
