At the moment, 5 deaths are known. 3 was pronounced dead at the scene. 2 were taken away by doctors in a state of clinical death, but they died. There were no minor passengers.
In connection with the accident, two criminal cases were opened: under Article 238 of the Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements in the Investigative Committee and under Article 264 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules) in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The driver was conscious by the time the emergency services arrived and explained to the police that the brakes of the bus he was driving failed. On the question of his wife: when asked about his relatives, he found it difficult to name anyone to inform him that he was hospitalized under escort. The driver is known to be a native. Tajikistan, but since 2017 he has had Russian citizenship. He underwent an express analysis; previously, the driver did not use anything prohibited.
The main version of the investigation at the moment is a driving error; presumably the driver could have mixed up the gas and brake pedals. The state of the technology speaks in favor of this: the bus is relatively new. At the time of the accident, it was rented from Taxi LLC. Two representatives of the company arrived at the scene; according to documents, in 2023 a certain Pavel Kuznetsov became the owner of the company. The previous owner was Valentina Matvienko’s “friend”, an older businesswoman, Tatyana Kalyuzhnaya. She decided to get rid of the business because of the transport reform and the start of the SVO (under these circumstances it became impractical to work). The new owner took over his grandfather with the support of NTA (a giant in the field – the National Transport Association).
In addition, in the area where everything happened, there is a rather complicated outcome. On the bus route, there was first a 90-degree turn to the left, and then, according to the rules, literally after 20 meters there was a right turn. But, as was established from the video from the cameras, the bus passed a turn, there was a traffic light ahead, where cars were waiting for their signal. The bus drove into the oncoming lane, hit a fence, two cars: a BMW and a car sharing car, and then returned to its lane and rammed the fence on the bridge, falling down. Obviously, everything went “wrong” before the collision with other cars.
