As it became known to the Cheka-OGPU, the property that, according to the investigation, was wasted by the former deputy head of the department for investigating organized criminal activities and crimes of past years of the Main Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Izbenko, turned out to be cash and 9 wristwatches. After submitting his retirement report in September 2023, the ex-investigator hid from his colleagues in the so-called special operation zone near Donetsk.
The wasted valuables were seized during searches in criminal cases, in the investigation of which Izbenko participated as the head of the investigative team, including in the case of the Moscow-Petrozavodsk plane crash in 2011. From 2011 to 2023, material evidence was stored at the place of work of a high-ranking investigator in the buildings of the Investigative Committee. Izbenko illegally took them from the place of storage and turned them into his own use.
Using the stolen money, the ex-deputy head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee purchased several real estate properties and a Mercedes-Benz CLA 250. A few days before his arrest, Izbenko transferred ownership of the car to the cousin of his common-law wife Anna Marchuk. Izbenko also bought Longines Master Collection and Rolex dayjust 36 mm wristwatches and two leather bracelets from Cartier watches. The court seized all of Marchuk’s property and bank accounts.
