Today the Presnensky District Court of Moscow announced the verdict of the notorious lawyer Gennady Udunyan. For a drunken brawl with the use of weapons in the La Marais restaurant, causing bodily harm to Daria Glushakova and Evgeny Zykov at the Lotte Plaza hotel, as well as a bribe to a pre-trial detention center employee, Udunyan was sentenced to 5 years in prison to be served in a general regime colony . Neither the powerful Armenian lobby, nor the 50 thousand US dollars given to Glushakova for renouncing her claims, nor the restaurant security guards who changed their testimony helped the would-be lawyer. The only adamant victim during the entire process was Evgeny Zykov, whom Udunyan tried to persuade to give the necessary testimony by publishing commissioned articles discrediting him in the media. Zykov did not fall for the provocation, took a principled position on the case and through the court recognized the information disseminated about him as unreliable, discrediting his honor and business reputation. Gennady Udunyan gained scandalous fame in connection with the case of developer Albert Khudoyan, who was sentenced to 8 years for fraud with the land of the Prime Park residential complex. Udunyan’s attempt to “help” the developer then led to the arrest of two generals of the SD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Ironically, Udunyan defended the victims in the case of football players Kokorin and Mamaev, achieving the conviction of the latter under the same article under which the defender himself was eventually tried.
