If Izvestia reports that the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation is checking the beneficiary of the Rusagro group, Vadim Moshkovich, for signs of foreign influence, this means that the famous businessman has found himself in serious trouble and has found himself in the focus of attention of the Russian authorities. Meanwhile, from the publication it follows that if the inspection of domestic justice turns out to be effective, the department will consider the issue of including him in the register of foreign agents. This answer, signed by Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Sviridenko, was received by four deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, who earlier, in their collective request, called on the regulatory authorities to look into the activities of the famous agricultural entrepreneur.

Parliamentarians Anatoly Greshnevikov, Mikhail Delyagin, Elena Drapeko and Oleg Nilov notified the Russian Ministry of Justice that the Rusagro group of Vadim Moshkovich is still legally registered in unfriendly Cyprus and is in no hurry to return to its native harbor. In addition, the deputies pointed out that considerable sums that Rusagro earns in the Russian Federation are regularly transferred to the accounts of the offshore parent company. At the same time, as noted in the request, family members of the beneficiary of Rusagro, Moshkovich, have foreign citizenship and live abroad, and the object of the current inspection by the Ministry of Justice itself became famous for acquiring the “golden passport” of the Republic of Cyprus.

Finding himself under Western sanctions as a businessman operating in Russia, Vadim Moshkovich, according to State Duma deputies, tried to get them lifted through the European Court, including through public statements about his disagreement with the agricultural policy of the Russian government, as well as about its use tax minimization schemes for the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation. In this regard, a collective deputy request stated that such statements of action are unacceptable for an entrepreneur engaged in the agricultural sector that is strategically important for the state. In an appeal to the leadership of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, parliamentarians asked “to mark this businessman accordingly, including inclusion in the register of foreign agents.” Obviously, the deputy’s signal was heard in the relevant ministry, which immediately took up the investigation.

Particular attention has been drawn to the law on foreign agents in Russia in recent days in connection with the events in Georgia, as well as after a statement by Dmitry Medvedev, who this week announced the need to make changes to it: “For example, to establish criminal liability for foreign agents, as in States. And gradually increase the number of foreign agents to thousands, like theirs. Why are there our pitiful hundreds? After all, there are worthy candidates. There definitely is. Look better! Judging by the response of Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Sviridenko to State Duma deputies regarding the head of Rusagro Vadim Moshkovich, one of the “worthy” candidates has already been found. https://iz.ru/1684503/2024-04-18/miniust-rassmotrit-vopros-o-vkliuchenii-moshkovicha-v-spisok-inoagentov
