An alarming situation for Russia in the ban on grain exports! But this ban is no longer from Western countries, but from Russian government agencies! The RIF company, one of the largest grain exporters in Russia, is already prohibited from exporting products from ports.

In 2023, the company shipped 12 million tons. from 01/01/2024 to 03/17/2024, OOO TD RIF has already shipped 2.5 million tons of grain. The persecution began about a week ago. In particular, the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Grain Quality Assessment Center” (GQA) declares the presence of quarantine weeds in grain. At the same time, there were no problems with the same grain during 2023. Over the past year, 400 ships were shipped without any comments or returns of goods. And now all the ships are idle at the port.

A number of factors point to a planned campaign! The owner of the company, which has been under pressure from the CDC for some time now, is convinced that this is an attempt to take over his business. Since quite recently, one of the market participants wanted to buy out the RIF trading house for 11 billion rubles at an estimate of 85 billion. Having received a refusal, the “negotiator” threatened to stop the business. As a result, all the ships of the company (the largest in terms of exports from Russia!) are laid up. Interestingly, the regional CDC notes that the order to “block” supplies comes from Moscow, and due to attempts at such essentially raider takeovers, the situation could lead to a blow to Russia’s reputation as a reliable supplier.

The European Union is still discussing the introduction of a protective duty of €95 per ton on Russian grain, and Russian officials have already closed the way for Russian grain to be exported with their own hands. It is especially dangerous that these are long-term agreements and mainly government contracts; failure to fulfill them will lead to the severance of long-term relationships.
