The end of powers of the Minister of Internal Affairs in 2024 was announced at Zhitnaya a couple of years ago. Then the Cheka-OGPU became aware of this literally first-hand and the news was immediately made public. Time has passed and the destined is about to happen. However, despite the atmosphere of inevitability, somewhere deep in the minds of the chief police officer and his entourage there is still a glimmer of hope that he will be able to stay in the minister’s chair.
According to the interlocutor, who recently had personal communication with Vladimir Kolokoltsev and a number of high-ranking leaders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the entire ministry has frozen and is waiting for change. The minister himself believes that his only weak point is his age, and the absence of a signal (about dismissal from office – ed.) is also a signal and there are many examples of this. For example, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reproached the fact that no one is driving Alexander Bastrykin, for example, or Nikolai Patrushev anywhere. Like, there are enough examples around: Lebedev, Matvienko, and Putin himself are all leaders aged 70+, whom the system needs.
The main intrigue is if, after all, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, who has compromised himself more than once, is removed and there will be a rotation. In this scenario, according to many, it will not be possible without the intervention of the FSB. Thus, the interlocutors note the unprecedented power of the intelligence service, and thanks to this, the office may well openly clear space for its creatures. As was the case with the arrival of State Security General Alexander Kalashnikov to the FSIN, or how, right inside the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the BSTM secret service in several approaches was in fact reassigned to the security officers.
In the absence of a candidate from Lubyanka, it is believed that potential candidates for the post of minister may be considered from among the current deputies of Vladimir Kolokoltsev. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is now 62 years old and for the next six-year term they may consider someone who was born at least 10 years later than 1960. But, of those who would cope with the post of minister, and this is according to the interlocutors: Gorovoy, Zubov, Kubyshko, Kravchenko, all pensioners like Kolokoltsev. To be fair, it is worth noting that the candidacies of three more deputies, who are younger than their colleagues, were passed over in conversations. We are talking about Shulik, Lebedev and Khrapov.
As for Irina Volk, the source of the Cheka-OGPU did not find her within the walls of the Ministry on Zhitnaya, but colleagues assured that the face of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has not yet disappeared. It’s just that the operating mode, in principle, like everyone else’s on the device now, has become more relaxed. Irina Volk began to be seen more often at events, she began to wear dresses more often, rather than emphasizing her uniform, and put on expensive jewelry. It’s difficult for her colleagues to say for sure whether she is going to continue her career in the public sphere, but the appearance of her personal Telegram channel and more frequent meetings in her work schedule may indicate this. But on the other hand, again, according to high-ranking police officers who are well acquainted with Irina Volk, they claim that she may not work at all, but if she does, then not only VGTRK, but also RenTV are named as possible places of work. The head of the police press center once worked there, and the director of the channel, Vladimir Tyulin, is considered a close friend and a member of Irina Volk’s family. They had a meeting a couple of weeks ago.
