“How can you judge people, look at yourself,” said the Russian conscript and stabbed the commander with a knife.

The Cheka-OGPU became aware of the verdict against the mobilized Yuri Vologzhanin, who seriously stabbed his commander. As follows from the materials of the court case, the Russian military in the combat zone drank alcohol for a long time. As a result, the drunk mobilized started talking about the deputy platoon commander for making comments to his subordinates about the inadmissibility of drunkenness. At the same time, the commander himself drank heavily.

As follows from the testimony, Yuri Vologzhanin became very angry while discussing the deputy platoon commander with his colleagues. Being very drunk, Vologzhanin went down to the dugout, sat down on the bed with the officer and told him: “How can you judge people, look at yourself.” Then he hit the latter with a tourist knife. Then the mobilized man took out a first aid kit, threw it to his drinking buddies and invited other military personnel to provide medical assistance to the deputy commander.

The most interesting thing is that it turned out that there had already been a decision to remove the commander and it was not communicated to the personnel due to the missile danger.

The investigation and the court of first instance qualified Vologzhanin’s actions as attempted murder and the use of violence against the boss (part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 105, part 3 of article 334 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The mobilized man was sentenced to 8 years of strict regime. The appellate court did not find any intent to kill the deputy commander in Vologzhanin’s actions and excluded attempted murder from the charge. As a result, the conscript was convicted only of violence against his superior; according to the sentence, he must serve five and a half years in a maximum security colony.
