The source spoke about the chilling procedures in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee of the Moscow Region. It turned out that ordinary employees of Moscow region police departments have been carrying human remains seized during forensic examinations almost in their hands for years, on personal or public transport, in any weather. And this has been happening for so long that no one remembers when, who and with whom agreed on such strange and downright illegal logistics.
“I have been working in this position for five years, all these years my colleagues have been traveling to MONIKI, to Moscow. Every week, during official hours, employees take biological objects, liquids from the morgue, it’s good if a shabby medical bag, where once it was written in large letters about especially dangerous contents, and go under their own power to Shchepkina Street. If these are scraps of fabric, some small fragments, then they are placed in a special container. But when it comes to oversized samples, improvised materials are used. I heard that they carried both heads and limbs, bones to be precise. Moreover, they were wrapped almost in newspapers. Imagine, such couriers from all departments travel on trains, buses, in the heat, without special equipment. This whole process has become so routine that often the one who is lucky has nothing to do with these pieces, and not only did not work on the case, but he is generally lucky, for example, for the Investigative Committee. It is surprising that no one has yet raised this issue, because we are not obliged to deal with the delivery of remains. This process is not regulated by any document, the couriers are not given any instructions, it’s good that the samples themselves are packaged in the morgue. If something happens to the objects, who will be responsible? With proper awareness, material evidence important for the investigation can be stolen by criminals or altered in some way, don’t we have enough drunk boys?”
