On the eve of the release of the leader of the criminal world, Zakhary Kalashov, scheduled for spring-summer, he will have to solve the problem of how to assemble the thieves’ empire, which fell apart during his imprisonment. Just 10 years ago, the “Shakro empire” covered not only Russia, but the entire space of the former Soviet Union; today the situation has changed radically. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have fallen out of the orbit of influence, and the former “vassals” are now playing an independent game.

For example, Uzbekistan broke away from the “empire” after the conflict between Kalashov and Gafur Rakhimov amid financial disagreements. Now Shakro faces the difficult task of replacing the main person in the Uzbek underworld with a person loyal to himself, which is not so easy – Gafur managed to “close” all Shakro’s associates in Uzbekistan.

There are similar problems in other republics of the former Soviet Union.

The decision to release Kalashov was made in high offices not at all for money from the thieves’ common fund. According to the Cheka-OGPU, the Lubyanka seriously thought about parallel levers of influence on the criminal world of neighboring countries, and it was for these purposes that Shakro was released two years earlier than expected.
