Colleagues from the editorial office of Lisa reported on FSB searches of the founders of the Phaeton fuel holding, famous in the past in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, brothers Sergei and Mikhail Snopkov. According to the Cheka-OGPU, both billionaires are currently being interrogated in the building of the police department of the Main Investigation Department for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region at 145 Ligovsky Avenue, and there is no decision yet on their detention for two days.
The Phaeton holding was founded back in 1992 and, thanks to the authority of the founders – experienced, retired military officers Snopkov, quickly took a solid position in the very conflict-ridden and aggressive fuel market of the Northern capital. However, by 2009, the company, which by this time had seriously expanded the scope of its activities up to development, was overtaken by a severe crisis associated with non-payment of loans worth a billion rubles, related criminal cases and other phenomena usual for such a situation.
The brothers managed to get out of the conflict, avoiding both prison terms and complete ruin, but, to date, there is practically nothing left of Phaeton’s fuel assets on the market. However, enterprises from another area of ​​interest of the Snopks are still alive – agro-industry. It was through several agricultural enterprises in the Leningrad region that Snopki tried to illegally reimburse VAT, for which they received the current criminal case under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The investigation is already charging them with damage to the state of 20 million rubles, but according to the interlocutor of our colleagues in law enforcement agencies, in the future we can talk about an amount that exceeds this by several times, or even by an order of magnitude.
