One of the brightest events of the past week was the large-scale measures taken by law enforcement agencies against the richest woman in Russia, Tatyana Bakalchuk and her husband. According to insider information, after the largest fire in the North-West at the Wildberry warehouse, it turned out that there seemed to be no warehouse in which goods of Russian citizens worth 15 billion rubles were stored, but there was simply a “Flying Dutchman”. Every day, 1,600 people in the same overalls apparently simply spent their free time in a warehouse that was not put into operation and, therefore, not registered with any fire supervisory structures of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Confident in her administrative resources, Ms. Bakalchuk tried to call her authoritative patrons for a couple of days. However, without getting through to competent people, by the middle of the week Bakalchuk’s confidence in her capabilities decreased and she simply went on the run, leaving her subordinates to explain themselves to the investigators and operatives who arrived to search her office. The intrigue of the past week is how quickly law enforcement officers will find Bakalchuk hiding from them, if the latter is not already hiding somewhere abroad.
