The Yaroslavl Federation of Mixed Martial Arts MMA, affiliated with Fedor Emelianenko, became a branch of the Chinese sect Falun Dafa, banned in the Russian Federation. On July 28, the Kirov District Court convicted the head of the federation, Denis Shibankov. He was found guilty under Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. (Carrying out the activities of a foreign or international non-governmental organization in respect of which a decision has been made to recognize its activities as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation).
The Falun Dafa and Falun Gong sects have been recognized as undesirable and banned in Russia since 2020 by decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office. 
According to the Cheka-OGPU, after the verdict against Shibankov comes into force, similar criminal cases will begin to be initiated against other branches of the MMA Federation.
